Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis offering 6 bulls

The Adams family of Dangarfield Cattle Co are looking forward to the chance of offering a draft of 6 young bulls at the 2016 Balonne Invitation Bull Sale.

We are now operating in the 4th generation of our family run business, since purchasing Dangarfield in 1947 and breeding Santa’s since 1958.  We currently join close to 1,100 females annually and conduct several ET programs throughout the year.  Our breeders are all run under the same conditions and carry the expectations that they go in calf every year or be turned over to carcass.

Our goals are simple – high performing, easy doing, quiet and fertile cattle.

Approximately 400 stud cows are joined annually, and we also run a purebred commercial herd, where the pick of the crop heifers are graded up into the stud herd each year.

All of our weaners are educated with horses, dogs & quad bikes, and worked on foot through the yards.  Any trouble makers along the way are culled and grown out for the EU market.  After weaning, the bulls are placed on Leucaena, where they are grown out until 60-90 days (depending on the season) before the sale.  The auction bulls are then supplementary fed in open paddocks and are made to walk 1km from feed to water; meaning they cover a minimum of 4km a day, keeping them fit and healthy.

They are bred to perform, not fed to perform.

Our bulls are vaccinated for: 7in1; 3Day; Vibro & 3 Germ Blood

We take great pride in the number of our clients who return, year in, year out to buy our bulls through both auction and private sales.  Over the last 9 years our auction sales have enjoyed 93% repeat clientele.

We have sold bulls into 5 states and Territories of Australia, and have exported semen from four our leading sires to 5 countries around the world.  Seeing the progeny of our bulls doing well in a range of environments is very rewarding for us.

When purchasing our cattle you can be confident with generations of fertile and efficient cattle that are backed by accurate information and our stud, family and personal reputation.

Feedback on our cattle is always welcome.

We look forward on catching up with you at the Balonne Sale.

2014 balonne invitation bull sale REPORT

by Andrea Schulz & Sally Nicol RIgney

Dangarfield gets ready for own sale

Vendors Ben and Amanda Adams from the Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis stud at Taroom enjoyed the support of volume buyers at the recent Balonne Bull Sale, held at Myall Plains, Nindigully. The sale, which is the only major bull sale in the St George region, produced surprisingly solid results in tough seasonal conditions.

Fifty-four buyers took their seats in the stands, as selling agents GDL and Elders put 122 bulls from five breeds under the hammer. The average of $3680 was very similar to last year’s, with the top price in 2014 reaching $7500 for an Angus sire.

GDL stud stock manager Harvey Weyman-Jones said the 100 percent clearance rate for the Angus and Santa Gertrudis breeds shows that when times are tough buyers revert to the tried and true rather than experimenting with other breeds.

Mr Weyman-Jones said the only thing that will firm up the bull selling market is widespread rain.

For Ben and Amanda, the support from buyers such as Kim and Richard Donner, Boxvale, Taroom, is encouraging for their own upcoming sale. The Adams family will offer 96 bulls on-property at Kingswood, Taroom, on Monday, September 22.

There are 22 different sires represented this year, with 12 of them offering their first release of progeny. The sale will start at 10.30am, with catalogues ARE available from local agents or the Adams family. For more information visit www.dangarfield.com.au.

Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis offering 10 bulls

The Adams family of Dangarfield Cattle Co are looking forward to the chance to offer a young draft of 10 bulls at the Balonne Invitation Sale.
We are currently operating with our 4th generation of the family running the business. We join 1,300 females annual & run all of our breeders under the same conditions. We expect our breeders to go in calf every year or be turned over to carcass.

Our goals are simple, easy care, easy doing, quiet, fertile cattle which is what we aim to breed.

4-500 stud cows are joined annually & we run a pure bred commercial herd, also where the pick of the crop heifers are graded up into the stud herd.

Our weaner bulls are educated to horses, dogs & 4-wheeled bikes, & also worked on foot through the yards. Any trouble makers along the way are put into one of the steer paddocks to be grown for the EU market. After weaning the bulls are placed on Leucaena where they are grown out until 60-90 days before sale (depending on the season) when they are supplementary fed in open paddocks. They are made to walk 1km from feed to water, meaning they cover a minimum 4km a day keeping fit & healthy.

They are bred to perform. Not fed to perform.

We take great pride in the number of clients who come back year in year out to buy our bulls. Over the last 7 years our sale has enjoyed a 93% repeat clientele.
When purchasing our cattle, you can rest assured of accurate & quality information, fertile & efficient cattle, backed by our stud, family & personal reputation. If you have a problem with the article we sell, we want to be the first to hear.

Looking forward to catching up with you at the Balonne Invitation Sale.

2014 KIWI'S VISIT Dangarfield

Earlier this year the Ody's from Glenrossie SG Stud, Whangarei & family were visiting 'Oz' & dropped in to Kingswood for a few nights.  As they toured Australia - from Sydney to Longreach & back to Sydney, they were truly able to experience the vastness of 'Oz'.  It was wonderful to be given the opportunity to show them Dangarfield & Kingswood, as when Ben & I were in New Zealand earlier in the year we visited Ody's farm.  Geoff did not miss a gathering either & was able to stop in on his way through from some classifications.

2013 Dangarfield hits $40,000 at 25th sale

 By ANDREA SCHULZ

THE popularity and proven performance of Dangarfield cattle amongst stud and commercial producers has helped the Adams family set multiple records at their milestone 25th anniversary Set for Stardom Twilight Sale, held on-property at Kingswood, Taroom.

Dangarfield is the first Santa sale of the season to post a total clearance, after 88 bulls and 68 PTIC heifers were put through the ring on Monday.

Forty-nine classified bulls posted an extremely impressive average of $8836, while 39 herd bulls averaged $4282, giving a strong combined average of $6818. Six classified heifers sold to a $1750 average, while 62 commercial females achieved an average of $892.

The stud’s previous top price sale record of $37,500 was surpassed when lot one, Dangarfield Universe (PS), sold for $40,000 to Alan and Sonia Martin, Riverslea Santas, Delungra, NSW.

Bidding started at $20,000 for the Dangarfield Quarterback (P) son, who was undefeated in class judging throughout the 2012 show season.

Universe (PS) weighed 1150kg at 36 months of age, and boasted a scrotal circumference of 42cm, an EMA of 130 square cm, and a fat scan of 14/10mm at the P8 and rib fat sites.

The second top priced bull was another show bull in Dangarfield Versatile (PS), by Hillside Fourex (P). The 24-month-old sire was kicked off at $10,000, and quick bidding saw Rob and Lorraine Sinnamon, managers of Yugilbar Station, Baryulgil, successful buyers at $36,000. The 950kg Versatile (PS) sire had a daily life gain of 1.25, and EMA of 130sq cm, and a scrotal measurement of 41cm.

In a further breakdown, five show bulls averaged $26,600, while six classified bulls by the impact Dangerfield Quarterback (P) sire averaged $15,250.

Local support was strong with 37 bulls going to Taroom and Wandoan, while the largest volume buyer of the day was Atkinson Developments, Greenvale, who put together a draft of eight bulls.

Some of the local volume buyers included R&R Knudsen, Taroom, who took home seven bulls, Christiansen Cattle Co, Campo Santo, Taroom, selected four, while the Bell Bros, Taroom, and Presho Cattle Co, Utopia Downs, Taroom, both took three each.

The entire draft of commercial females, which were offered in half deck lots, were snapped up by Gavin Dennien, Shamrockvale, Beaudesert. Five of the six pens sold for $900 each, while the sixth pen sold for $850. Classified female topped at $2250, when John McCarthy, Clifton, purchased the polled Dangarfield Valerie heifer.

“I’m not sure what to say, other than thank you to all of you for your support and for standing by us,” vendor Ben Adams said.

“Our product will stand by you, and they are fully guaranteed.”
